The Shift
Another reason I am extremely choosy about who I photograph is this nasty little slide that naturally happens in a photographer/client relationship. It has to do with people being blinded by the initial euphoria of "we did all that work and we got something out of it. YAY!" Which changes as they see the pictures over and over as they are deciding what to order the shine rubs away and they see the photos for what they are, which is .. just photos of some people in a moment of time. People that can retain the memory of how hard it was to get these moments in the first place and remember we didn't have unlimited time, light, or patience are the people I enjoy photographing the most. We both know it was a race. It was what it was. And they appreciate it even after they realize the photos could indeed have been better... if only we had complete control over everything.
